Residential Burglaries The Woodbridge Police Department is investigating two (2) separate residential burglaries that recently occurred during the overnight hours. The two burglaries both occurred during the early morning hours of Thursday (08/16/07) at residences located in the southwest end of the town, more specifically in the Ford Road / Ansonia Road area. In each incident, the residents were asleep and did not realize that their homes had been burglarized until they woke up later in the morning and noticed items missing or disturbed. In both cases entry was gained via unlocked first floor windows, where the perpetrator was able to remove the screen. After entering the homes several rooms were entered by the suspect and items including pocketbooks and other valuables were stolen. Police have increased patrols and deterrent procedures in the target areas, and are also taking other undisclosed measures to deal with these incidents. Residents are asked to be vigilant and to report anything of a suspicious nature to the police department immediately via “911”. Residents are reminded to keep all doors and windows, especially those on ground level, closed and locked when appropriate, and to utilize their burglar alarm system if their home is so equipped.
